How To Ride 1000 Miles In 10 days... On A Turbo

With the Games being shifted to next year, and wondering what my future holds as a 42 year old athlete, I needed a plan fast. My coach Dan reminded me that I’m a goal-focused rider, and now the Games are over 500 days away (again!), I needed a short term ‘now’ kind of goal. So with lock down on and no Games, I decided to stay inside and ride Zwift on my turbo. But to make it more challenging, I gave it a purpose. I wondered if I could ride seven hundred miles in a week. I mean, I knew I could physically, pretty much everyone could, if they had a gun pointed at their head. But mentally I wasn’t sure I could, after all, it’s six hours sat on the turbo each day!

Hunt Beyond Supported Riders 2020

Hunt Beyond was created to focus on developing wheels for those riders who don’t quite fit into the ‘normal’ cycling bracket. We all know that one person who just has to go a little too far, not content with ‘just’ riding 100miles they are the ones that would ‘just’ ride 150 miles off road instead, or go on a family holiday to Spain and ‘just’ ride there. Or ‘just’ disappear for a month and return after cycling across some far flung mountain range in central Asia.

HUNT Partners With LA SWEAT

We are very excited to announce we will be supporting the LA SWEAT Women's team in 2020. LA Sweat has had our attention for several years now and when the opportunity arose to support them in the new year, we jumped at the chance. Kelli Samuelson, owner & team mom, has developed the squad into one of the best crit & road teams in the US.

Atlas Mountain Race is underway

The Altlas mountain race is a second new race to the early season Backpacking calendar and, as the name suggests, takes part in the Atlas Mountains of Morroco. The Atlas Mountain race is a predominantly off road event which began in Marrakesh on feb 15th, crosses the Atlas mountains and winds its way through the fringes of the desert and smaller Anti Atlas mountains before finishing on the coast near Agadir.

At 1000km in length this isn’t the longest event on the calendar, however the substantial elevation, rough roads and tracks will make it a tough ride. Winning times will be expected to be under 4 days, with the majority of the participants completing the event in around a week.

HUNT partner with Bianchi Dama for 2020

We're stoked to announce the first of a series of new team partnerships for 2020; the Bianchi Dama womens' road team based out of Exeter. Having grown out of Exeter University's performance program in 2015, the team has developed into one of the best female teams in the UK. They compete nationally and internationally in road, time trial and track events, and, in their words, are "always looking to better ourselves in everything we do and continue to enjoy this wonderful, mad yet engrossing sport."

The Year of Power

Well, 18 months really, but that doesn’t have the same ring to it does it. In my last thrilling tale I had slowly worked my way up to being a master of Zwift, and contracted a rather worrying addiction to online racing. All this despite the continual hindrance of a nagging cardiac problem that means my heart rate is incredibly slow to rise when exercising and max’s out at just above 100. I left you all with the cliffhanger of whether I was a “Virtual Contender” who had discovered the secret to immense online power, or merely an “Actual Idiot” living the lie of estimated power and secretly despised by all the real virtual athletes around me…. A Tough & Muddy Day at Ardingly...

This weekend, we were back in the action with Gosse for the fourth round of this year's National Trophy season, just half an hour drive away at our 'local' race at the South of England showground in Ardingly. With Ian Field just 16 points ahead of Gosse in the overall standings, it was to be a pivotal race in the chase for the series....
