Tuned for trail riding with a new asymmetric rim profile hand-laced with front- and rear-specific spoke gauges and carbon layups for front-wheel compliance and rear-wheel stability.

Getting the power down, our S_RapidEngage 2-degree freehub instantly turns every pedal stroke into a speed boost.

H_Core Reinforced

H_Core technology integrates pultruded, highly compacted carbon inserts to reinforce the critical junction between the rim bed and sidewall. This advanced construction delivers an exceptionally durable and impact-resistant wheel, built to withstand the toughest trails.

Puncture Protection

The 4mm carbon rim bead on the rear rim provides superior protection against punctures and pinch flats, while boosting impact resistance exactly where it's needed most.

2-degree Engagement

The S_Rapid Engage hubset shaves unnecessary weight without sacrificing durability. Its 3x2 pawl system pairs with a robust 90-tooth drive ring, delivering an ultra-fast 2° engagement for instant power transfer.

Front and rear specific spokes

The front wheel is hand-laced with Pillar triple-butted spokes featuring a narrower 1.6mm central gauge, reducing weight and enhancing comfort. The rear wheel uses triple-butted Pillar spokes with a broader 1.7mm gauge for strength and durability.

We rigorously test all our wheels through purpose-designed protocols, combining real-world ride testing with in-house lab tests on our custom-built impact rig. Thanks to a carefully optimised rim design and carbon layup, advanced H_Core technology, and precise hand-built construction, the HUNT Proven Trail H_Core achieves an impressive 170J impact rating. H_Core is a manufacturing technology that greatly improves the durability and impact strength of our aggressive carbon MTB wheels. H_Core consists of pre-moulded, pultruded, and highly compacted carbon fibre core inserts used to reinforce the junction between the rim bed and sidewall on each side of the rim during the rim moulding process. The result is a lightweight yet highly durable and impact-resistant rim construction.

High Specification Components.

All-new H_Core reinforcement technology increases impact resistance significantly over the previous iteration. The front rim is designed for precision handling, featuring a 31mm-wide internal profile that enhances tracking and grip on technical terrain. Out back, the rear rim (30mm internal width) is engineered for strength and durability, with a reinforced layup and oversized 4mm sidewall dimensions to reduce the risk of pinch flats and enhance impact resistance.

ASYMMETRIC

An asymmetric carbon rim profile allows for improved bracing angles and more even spoke tension between the drive and non-drive sides of the wheel, resulting in a more durable build compared to symmetrical rim designs.

ENHANCED LAYUP

A key development for the HUNT Proven Carbon Trail H_Core wheelset was the evolution of our enhanced carbon layup designed to reduce splintering. Through laboratory and real-world testing, our engineering team found that the addition of a penultimate 10k carbon weave in the layup enhanced resilience to 'micro-cracks' that could lead to larger failures. Our impact tests reveal that this development boosts impact resistance, making the HUNT Proven Carbon Trail an exceptionally reliable and long-lasting wheelset.

SPOKES

Each HUNT Proven Carbon Trail H_Core wheelset is hand-built using straight-pull triple-butted stainless steel Pillar spokes with alloy nipples and steel washers for the perfect balance of low weight and durability. To further tune our trail wheels, we lace the front wheel with Pillar 2016 triple-butted spokes featuring a narrower 1.6mm central gauge, reducing weight and enhancing comfort. The rear wheel uses 2017 triple-butted Pillar spokes with a wider 1.7mm gauge for improved strength and durability, perfect for handling the increased demands of technical trail riding.

FREEHUB

The S_RapidEngage freehub boasts 2 teeth per pawl to offer our fastest engaging MTB freehub to date. This trail-ready 3x2 pawl system is mated to our new 90t ratchet ring with 6 durable pawls transferring power in an alternating pattern creating an almost instant 2-degree engagement for improved responsiveness and pedal input.

TUNED FOR TRAILS

Boasting front and rear-specific asymmetric carbon rims, our UK-based engineering team have fine-tuned each rim to its specific use case. The front rim is tuned for compliance and tracking, with a wider 31mm internal rim profile to give maximum cornering traction from modern trail tyres. The rear rim has been maximised for strength, boasting a wider 4mm bead and a slightly narrower internal rim width of 30mm to reduce rolling resistance without sacrificing comfort and traction. Stated wheel weights: Our stated wheel weights reflect the wheelset only; without rim tape, tubeless valves or disc brake lock rings, as is industry standard. A 3% variance (lower or higher) in total system weight is normal for wheelset manufacturing.

All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh rolling-drum fatigue tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 135kg (system weight : total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If a rider is over 125Kgs then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly.
