<h1>Weight</h1><i>The consequence of the fanatical attention to detail is an outstandingly light 1358g wheelset weight in a lightning fast stiff aero package. We've enjoyed free wheeling in the pack whilst all others are pedalling, is it cheating?</i>

The Purpose.

With up to a 30.16% reduction in lateral flex over equivalent steel spoked wheelsets, the 50 UD Carbon Spoke wheels have been engineered to provide you a significant increase in stiffness as well an impressively low weight.

Using an innovative construction method, the 50 UD Carbon Spoke wheelset offers carbon spokes that are held purely mechanically, with no bonding required. We call this TaperLock, and it allows for carbon spokes that can be trued and maintained just like a normal steel spoke. Plus the TaperLock UD Carbon spokes are incredibly strong achieving over 450kgf (kilograms force per spoke) maximum tensile strength, this compares to leading steel spokes wich only reach 300 kgf. The innovative filament wound rims feature spoke area reinforcement, which creates strength where you need it and saves you vital grams everywhere else.

Adaptive filament wound rims, allowing us to engineer strength into the high stress spoke areas where it is most needed, and allow for lightness where it isn't. Toray T700/T800 unidirectional and 3K weave carbon-fibre with 3K weave bed and spoke areas. 26mm outer and 19mm inner width. 50mm depth, with wide rounded aero section. Hooked Griptec brake-track. Please note: These wheels are only tested with the brake pads supplied and are specific to carbon wheels. Two sets are included with the wheel purchase and additional can be purchased here. Bladed UD carbon fibre spokes with incredibly high strength, stiffness and weighing only 2.7g per spoke. Front: 16 spokes laced radially - aero profile. Rear: 21 spokes laced 2 cross drive-side and radially non-drive side.

You must not exceed the maximum tyre pressure limits set out in the table below or the maximum limit set by your tyre manufacturer if this is lower. Note: best performance is usually gained by using tyre pressures lower than the maximum, you can see our blog post about this, read here.

Stated wheel weights: Our stated wheel weights reflect the wheelset only; without rim tape, tubeless valves or disc brake lock rings, as is industry standard. A 3% variance (lower or higher) in total system weight is normal for wheelset manufacturing.

All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 125 kg (system weight – total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If the system is over 105 kg then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly.
