Josh's Mason Bokeh Race around Rwanda bike check

The Race around Rwanda kicks off in Kigali Rwanda this weekend. It's a 1000km race with around 250km of gravel roads and lots of climbing. In fact there is barely a flat section on the route and coupled with the fact that the race begins at 1800m altitude and only goes up fro there means that this will be a tough challenge. But what is the best bike set up for the event?

Josh Ibbett takes us through his race setup...

Race preview: The Race Around Rwanda

The winter break is almost over for the Ultra distance Dotwatching community as the first race of the season is almost upon us. There are plenty of new races popping up on the 2020 bikepacking and the first of them is the Race Around Rwanda.

The Race Around Rwanda is a 1000km self supported race around the land of a thousand hills. Rwanda’s nickname hints as to what is to come for the rider's participation in the inaugural race, as the name suggests Rwanda is not a flat country!

What you won't do for love... by Gustav Thuesen

What you won't do for love... by Gustav Thuesen

What motivates someone to ride 1065 km from Copenhagen to Salzburg? Love. When my girlfriend had the opportunity to work in Salzburg for six months I knew I would come and visit her multiple times – and I had to do the +1000 km trip by bike from Copenhagen once.

I knew it would be long and I knew I wanted to do it fast. Just me, the bike, a sleeping bag and a mat. I had done a 1700 km bikepacking trip before from Copenhagen to Bergen but that was done over a leisurous 15 days. This time I wanted to do it in under 72 hours...

Meeting Ryan Le Garrec

Meeting Ryan Le Garrec

Ryan Le Garrec is a French Videographer who has been following the Ultra Cycling calendar for the past year. He has provided some of the amazing images and video that has appeared in the Hunt Beyond newsletter and social media so we took the time to sit down with Ryan and find out a bit more about the man behind the lens.

As a child I always wanted to put my eye to daddy’s big camera. Kids look up to firemen and policemen, but I looked up at the war reporter and the superhero of my childhood, my dad. He was literally dodging bullets and bombs to tell the world what’s going on and report about people suffering the evil side of the human race. That and the fact I found cameras super sexy sparked a very early interest for filming.
